Les Gets has long been an ideal ski resort for young families and for parents who love skiing, it is a great place for those keen to encourage their children and imbue them with the same passion. Not only is the ski area exceptionally family friendly, there are also dozens of added extras – and some great childcare options – that make it a special place for holidaying together.
This real village – rather than purpose-built ski resort, is home to chalet-style buildings with not a 70s high-rise in sight. Traditional charcuteries and boulangeries line the streets and dotted in-between are the bars, restaurants and ski shops. There is a fun mini-train circulating around the resort, an outdoor ice skating rink, some great sledging areas, a chocolate shop that offers weekly chocolate making lessons and more…
Les Gets is also part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area which links 12 resorts via more than 300 runs so there’s masses to keep everyone busy. And with kids – it’s just over an hour’s drive from Geneva airport so transfer times are nice and short!
One of the best chalets in the Les Gets area is Chalet Grand Corniche – it’s design is brilliant and it has literally everything on offer: personal chauffeur and private chef, glass sauna, outdoor hut tub, spa area, wine cellar, outdoor heated infinity swimming pool, gym, snooker area and a two tier home cinema. Fantastic for kids, the chauffeur service will drop off and pick up from ski school, there is a special kids tea on offer prepared by the chef and plenty of child-friendly movies for little ones to snuggle up to in the home cinema or TV snug room. As well as an extensive collection of children’s equipment, games and toys.
