WHEN TO VISIT ST ANTON

From early December to early April.

BEGINNERS

St Anton is not typically recommended for beginners due to its predominantly challenging terrain. However, it is possible to learn here with the help of excellent ski schools and nursery slopes located at Nasserein and Gampen. For those just starting out, instructors guide beginners along the easiest routes and offer support to build confidence. The Rendl sector, now more accessible via the Rendlebahn lift, provides additional beginner-friendly terrain for progressing skiers.

WHO IS ST ANTON BEST FOR?

St Anton is a great choice for adventurous skiers, those who are looking for off-piste, corporate groups and those who enjoy a lively après scene.

RESORT GUIDE

FOR KIDS

Despite its reputation for advanced skiing, St Anton excels in childcare and family services. The resort offers a ski-school-run kindergarten near the Galzig gondola for children aged 2.5 and up, alongside ski lessons for older kids. Families can also choose from a variety of British-run nanny agencies or hire tutors who combine childcare with ski instruction. These facilities make St Anton a surprisingly good option for families seeking reliable childcare alongside their skiing adventure.

APRES SKI & NIGHTLIFE

St Anton has a long-standing reputation as one of the skiing world’s great party towns.  This reputation is built on famous establishments like the Krazy Kangaruhs, Heustadl, Taps and Mooserwirt which draw huge crowds of happy skiers each afternoon.

There are though, many more, both at the base of the slopes, and in the village, like Anton Bar and Murmell, where the party atmosphere kicks off only slightly later than at the slopeside bars and can continue through to the small hours before you know it.

If you are looking for somewhere with great cocktails then Anthony’s hotel has the Happy Valley Steak & Shake’ bar or try the Galzig bistro bar just by the lifts. On the main high street head to the Bodega bar for tapas and delicious red wine, but be warned it is so popular it’s tricky to get a seat.

If you manage to change into your dancing shoes there are plenty more sophisticated bars and nightspots open late into the night. These include the legendary Piccadilly bar which features live music, Postkeller, Horny B and Hells Club.

MOUNTAIN RESTAURANTS

The Hospiz Alm on the slopes up at St Christoph is one of those that must be visited during your stay in the Arlberg. Traditional Austrian fayre but so popular you may need to fight for your table if you haven’t managed to reserve one.

By contrast, the cool little Galzig Bistrot bar, is more centrally located at the bottom of the Galzigbahn in the heart of St. Anton. It has a great menu and fast service.

The Rodelalm above Nasserein has a great reputation and good views. Wholesome lunchtime specialities include knuckles of pork, Tyrolean “Gröstl”, “Kaiserschmarren” pancake.

IN RESORT RESTAURANTS

The cosmopolitan ‘Happy Valley Steakhouse’ is located in the chic and modern Anthony’s hotel just off the main high street and offers an all-American feel with live acts, DJ’s and plenty of American classics including steak, burgers and ribs.

Ooben im Mooser’ restaurant and bar is in the eaves of a former dairy and cowshed but manages to pull off New York style glamour. This restaurant serves wonderful Tyrolean and Austrian cuisine with a focus on international and creative flavours.

The Museum, which was used as a location in the film Chalet Girl is one of the most popular fine dining establishments in town. Located above the Galzig lift on the home run it offers a wide-ranging menu including Austrian specialities.

LOCATION

Reviews

Cosy apartment with ski-in/out option

The chalet’s location is superb with ski-in/out options with the town being just a short walk away. The apartment is quite spacious, bright and well equipped with a coupe of balconies and a private bathroom is every room. The kitchen is very well stocked with major appliances, the fridge was always full of cheese and cold cuts, milk and juice and the daily local assortment of bread was amazing. It’s a great place for a group of friends or families with children who want to enjoy cozy evenings together. The concierge staff was always available to answer any questions, very helpful overall. Wish we could’ve stayed longer and defintely will use teh company's services in the future

Another excellent trip organised by Chalet Edit
