WHEN TO VISIT CHATEL

The best time is from mid-December to early April.

BEGINNERS

Both the Linga-Pré la Joux and Super-Châtel areas have a variety of nursery slopes to get beginners up and running. The main beginner area is at the top of the gondola above Super Châtel where a snowy open bowl contains a dozen or so short drags spreading out in all directions and serving generally easy or very easy terrain.

WHO IS CHATEL BEST FOR?

Châtel is one of the best choices for families, mixed ability groups, non-skiers and weekend ski trips.

RESORT GUIDE

FOR KIDS

Châtel is one of less than 20 ski resorts in France to be given the “Famille Plus” label signifying its high quality of family infrastructure. There is a free sledging area located at Pré-la-Joux, an indoor playground, swimming at the aquatic centre and the option of riding on Le Petit Train.

APRES SKI & NIGHTLIFE

Châtel is becoming increasingly vibrant. The British-style pub Avalanche is a favorite spot, known for its lively atmosphere, live bands, and occasional themed nights.

For a fun evening, check out the DJ sets or live music at Bar Nazca.

Meanwhile, locals gravitate towards the cozy Bar L'Isba, where you can enjoy a relaxed vibe.

After Bar Nazca and the Avalanche pub, the crowds can head to Sloopy's - a nightclub at the Super- Châtel telecabine station.

MOUNTAIN RESTAURANTS

Plaine Dranse is home to a variety of mountain restaurants, including Bois Prin, Pierre aux Loupes, Chez Denis, and Tan o Marmottes.

Don’t miss the Vieux Chalet (Chez Babaths), run by a charismatic and eccentric host, with its quirky décor and outstanding cuisine.

For more lunchtime options, head to Ferme des Pistes ( + 04 50 81 35 81 ) in Linga

IN RESORT RESTAURANTS

Hotel Macchi and Hotel Fleur de Neige both feature upscale gastronomic restaurants.

For more budget-friendly dining, the Rustic Vieux Four and La Poya on the main street offer excellent value and specialize in Savoyard cuisine.

The Fiacre stands out for its charming atmosphere and delicious menu, with its pizzas being a particular highlight.

Reviews

Our dream holiday would not have happened with the Chalet Edit!

Anna and Anabel have been amazing during the whole process of organising our trip to the snow! We initially started planning this trip in lockdown 1 (2020) for a group of 12 adults and a couple of little ones and I can honestly say the trip would not have happened without them! Their knowledge of the resorts, Chalets and even the Chalet managers themselves is outstanding! The communication was fantastic and we felt like we were always a priority! They made sure that all aspects of the holiday were considered and carefully organised to ensure that we had the week that we had been dreaming of! I would 100% recommend them to anyone and will definitely be using them again!
